Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Ready, Respectful and Safe are our Gilthill school rules. They also help us to define our learning values. Each week we pick a value champion from each year group, someone who has demonstrated one of our Ready, Respectful and Safe values. These children get to wear our special award badge for the week so we can celebrate our learning values.
This week we held another parent reading event for our year 3 and 4 parents. Thank you to all of those parents who were able to attend. All of the information from the workshop will be sent home via Dojo and we will be saving the presentations on our website in the parents tab under 'Partnerships with Parents'. Last week we held the EYFS/KS1 event and next week (23/11/21) the year 5 and 6 team will be showing parents how we teach reading in upper key stage 2 and what parents can do to help at home. We look forward to welcoming our year 5 and 6 parents next week.
Just wow! What a fantastic class assembly by our year 5 children today. They all learnt their lines and spoke so beautifully. The children really showcased what they had been learning in school and it was great to share that with their parents. If you didn't get the chance to watch it, we have videoed it for our secure You Tube channel. A link will be posted on Dojo later today. Well done year 5, we are all so proud of you!
Today we received this correspondence from the Flu immunisation team
We will let you know the new date when we receive it.
Today we welcomed the parents of our year 6 pupils into school to watch the year 6 class assembly. What a great performance! The children sang songs, acted and gave us a very important message about having a positive growth mindset. The year 6's also performed their assembly to the rest of the school who learnt a valuable lesson about never giving up and always striving to be awesome!
If there were any parents who were unable to make the performance, a video of the assembly can be accessed via our secure YouTube site. A link has been sent out via class Dojo.
On Tuesday 21st September the children in year 3 and 4 took part in a Roman Day. The children, and the staff, came dressed for the occasion and enjoyed a day of reenactment, creativity and exploration. The children were able to handle artefacts, explore past cultures and societies and to think like an historian. The company hoisting the day commented on how polite and respectful the children were. Well done year 3 and 4, we are proud of you!
New staff Members
At the start of this academic year we are welcoming two new members of staff to our teaching team. Mrs. L Painter will be working one day a week in year 2, providing cover for Mrs. Langmaid to complete her leadership responsibilities. Ms. S Froggatt will be joining us for two days a week supporting the children in year 3 and 4 and providing some targeted interventions.
We welcome both new members to staff to our wonderful team. We know they will love Gilthill just as much as we do!
What a wonderful start to the new school year! The children have all come back to school smiling and ready to learn. It has been such a pleasure to welcome our new Reception children for their first few days at school. I must say they are looking very smart in their new school uniforms!
Our morning opening routine is working well, with children coming in at 8.45 and gates closing at 8.55am. At the end of the day we are still operating our staggered finish times with gates opening at 3.15 and closing at 3.30pm.
Children have settled back into our new lunchtime routines. We now have two sittings, one for EYFS/KS1 and one for KS2. The children are very happy to once again be mixing with other children in their key stages. The three weekly lunch menu has been emailed out to parents and is on the school website under ‘School Lunches’ in the Parents tab.
