Welcome to Year 5
There are lots of exciting topics in Year 5; a list of these is posted on this website every term. The topic web is full of useful information, as we know some parents like to tie in day trips, books for birthdays/Christmas and documentaries on TV etc.
This is what we are learning about this term.
Homework
Homework will be set every Monday. Tasks will need to be completed by the following Monday. This will usually be an English and a Maths based activity.
Spellings and times tables are given out on a Thursday and the children are tested the following Thursday afternoon. Please help your child/children to learn these at home.
Please continue to read with your child/children often at home and record in their reading diary; every 5 reads is rewarded with a Dojo. I can not stress enough the importance of regular reading and sharing books at home. We want to encourage reading for pleasure and to nurture a real love of reading
P.E
Our P.E days are Monday and Thursday at the moment (the children swim on a Tuesday).
Please ensure that your child always has a full PE kit in school. You never know when an opportunity may arise for a little extra e.g. Sports Relief, sponsored charity events etc.
