  • Wizard of Oz

Wed 12 Jul 2023 Mrs Allison

This year, our Year 5 and 6 end-of-year production was "The Wizard of Oz." What an amazing performance by all the children! The singing, dancing, costumes, and props were outstanding. Everyone played their part, from the actors and the choir to the stagehands and the tech crew. Well done to everyone involved for a fabulous end-of-year production, and congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 staff team for their dedication in putting this together. It will be a wonderful memory for our Year 6 pupils to take away with them from their time at Gilthill.

  • KS1 sports festival

Tue 27 Jun 2023 Mrs Allison

Well done to the KS1 children who attended the EMET Sports Fundamentals Festival at Homefields Primary School yesterday.

Both Mr Clarke and I were so impressed with their participation, enthusiasm and behaviour at the event, such wonderful ambassadors for our school.

They took part in a range of activities including throwing, catching and ball skills. They all received a medal and a certificate for taking part

  • EMET Swimming Gala

Fri 16 Jun 2023 Mrs Allison

This afternoon we took part in the EMET swimming gala finals. Gilthill competed against 4 other EMET schools and I am so pleased to say...we won!

The whole team performed brilliantly with some fabulous personal performances and some great relay times. The children cheered each other on and worked so well together as a team. I really couldn't be prouder.

  • District Sports

Tue 13 Jun 2023 Mrs Allison

A huge well done to our District Sports team who competed today at the Harvey Hadden Stadium. They really were superb!

The children competed in their events with such determination and skill. We even brought home a few medals for our first, second and third places.

We didn’t place overall this year however we had a fabulous afternoon and we had fun! We are very proud of you Gilthill!

  • Dogs Trust Workshops

Mon 05 Jun 2023 Mrs Allison

Yesterday, a representative from Dogs Trust came into school to deliver a whole school assembly and carry out some workshops with our KS2 children.

The children learnt about how to be safe around dogs, including how to read dog body language! I received a lovely email from Dogs Trust this morning saying how polite and welcoming our children were. They have also given us a certificate and shared some links to their website and workshops they have available. If you would like to find out more, please click on the links below.

Well done Gilthill. It is always lovely to her such positive feedback. We all learnt a lot about keeping ourselves safe when out and about in our local community.

  • PTA Colour Run

Fri 19 May 2023 Mrs Allison

    Gilthill PTA Colour Run 2023

What a fantastic afternoon! Here are just a few photos from today's colour run. The children (and staff!) had a wonderful time running and walking the course and getting showered in colour. We managed to get everyone to complete the race twice for an extra rainbow splash!

Thank you to the parents who came along to cheer us on, to Mr Clarke and the other staff for organising the children and to our fabulous PTA for organising the event and getting very messy in the process.

  • Nottinghamshire County Swimming Gala

Mon 15 May 2023 Mrs Allison

It is with huge pride that I can announce, Gilthill won the county swimming gala and are now Nottinghamshire County swimming champions.

Well done to the whole team for their grit, determination and resilience. They swam against some excellent swimmers from winning schools across the whole county.

Thank you to Mr. Clarke for organising the team and to all the parents who were able to come along and cheer us on. It really did make this a fabulous competition.

    Well done Gilthill.

  • Coronation Celebrations

Fri 05 May 2023 Mrs Allison

    Coronation Lunch

The rain didn’t stop us enjoying our coronation lunch. The whole school came together in the hall to sing the National Anthem and enjoy our lunch. Thank you to all our amazing staff for helping out and making this a coronation celebration to remember.

  • Flash Mob

Fri 28 Apr 2023 Mrs Allison

    Bob Fosse Flash Mob!

Today we had an amazing afternoon at Gilthill. We came together to perform our whole school flash mob in the style of Bob Fosse. The children (and staff) have loved learning the routines and we had such fun performing it on the playground.

A huge thank you to Miss Withe who choreographed every routine, sorted music and even videoed the performance. We couldn't have done this without her talent and passion for dance.

A huge thank you to staff for getting their jazz hands at the ready and getting stuck in and to all our Gilthill children. From those who love dancing to those who were trying it for the first time, everyone had a go and enjoyed themselves and learnt so much about the inspirational Bob Fosse along the way.

  • Maths 'escape room' event

Mon 24 Apr 2023 Mrs Allison

Last week the whole school worked on their own 'escape room' activity. Maths is one of our school development areas this year and so we designed an event to really showcase our maths skills. Each class had to crack the code to rescue someone before the time ran out! The children had great fun. They were using their reasoning and deeper thinking skills as well as their team building and cooperation skills.

Thank you to Mrs Langmaid, our maths lead and all the class teachers for organising and to our children for showcasing  their love of maths.
