School Swimming

2021-22 School swimming resumed in September 2021. 


2020-21 School swimming disrupted due to swimming pools being closed during this academic year.


2019-20 Year 6 Cohort – 87% of children were able to swim 25 metres or more, by the end of their primary education at Gilthill. This was a small cohort and due to school closure in March 2020 we were unable to run our catch up extra swimming sessions.


Gilthill has a reputation for encouraging sports participation in both competitions and for exercise and pleasure…

 We have held the  –

  • Swimming District and County Small Schools Champions
  • Cross Country District Champions
  • District Sports Small Schools Champions

for the last 7 years losing these titles in 2018/19


We hold in the 2018/19 year

Netball District Emily Barker Award for good sporting conduct.

Rounders District runner up


In 2019 20  the sporting events and competitions for schools were interrupted by the COVID 19 Pandemic. We did however take children to several cross country events in the Autumn Term 2019.
